‘Blue Wren’ PDF Embroidery Pattern

This pattern was created as a very special gift for my mum on mothers day. I designed it to fit into a 10cm hoop because, well, blue wrens are so tiny and adorable haha. For this piece I introduced a technique called thread painting (which is the use of multiple single thread colours to give a lifelike texture effect to your embroidery). The wren is perfect to practice this on, and it won’t take you too long because it is so tiny.
Please note this pattern booklet is best accompanied with A Beginner’s Guide To Embroidery which is available in a downloadable PDF.

Where do I start! – I love this pattern so much!!
Bess made this pattern at the perfect time for me to try thread painting for the first time for my Mum’s 50th birthday – and it turned out SO well! I’ve spent a lot of time cross stitching, and do a lot of embroidery but have never ventured into the thread-painting space, it’s always looked way too hard!
BUT!
The instructions were clear and easy to read, with lots of pictures and super easy to follow colour blocking diagrams! I’m so pleased with how it came out and my mum is over the moon with her gift! Thanks Bess!

Thread painting is no joke – warning, it is addictive!
It takes some patience, but allows you to use your creativity and make it your own. The little wren is sweetest and a beautiful pattern. The included stitch direction recommendations make it a dream to stitch and follow.
I am stitching him for a keepsake/gift for a friends new baby boy. He is just perfect (although I’ve grown attached and will find it hard to gift him – I might just have to stitch him again for myself).
