Love + Water

Haaaaaappy Thursday everyone!!! How can it seriously be Thursday already! πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Haha I suppose I shouldn’t complain too much about it because Thursdays mean that Friday is just around the corner!!!

If you follow my instagram @lifewithbess (and if you don’t… you totally should πŸ˜‰) you might have noticed a scattering of gorgeous Hawaii photos which we affectionately call our Love + Water photos!

Ever since we talked about the possibility of going to Hawaii for our honeymoon I was keen as beans to have some professional photographs taken as a memento of our first holiday together. More photos you say?? I know I know… but between our engagement photos, the wedding and these honeymoon photos we have captured this special time in our lives so well and I have absolutely #noregrets.

I mean look at that!!!! 😍😍

I found Love + Water Photography through their Instagram page filled with soft light and gorgeous Hawaiian beaches. I mean what was not to love about these guys. But the deciding factor to pick this couple was that they had something special to set them apart, with Adam (who was our photographer for the morning) being originally from Australia. Boy, hearing an Aussie accent in crowds of American and international travelers was so refreshing!

So after getting up at 4.30am to get ready, we made our way down to Makena Beach on Maui for a 6am sunrise photoshoot. For anyone who knows Jake… sunrises are pretty much one of his favourite things so that made it super special for him. Meanwhile for me – I preferred the soft pastel colours of sunrise over sunset… so my motivation was largely the photo style (#notamorningperson). And it was totally worth it!

Soooo the dress, so much research for this dress… I did so much online browsing to try and find the perfect dress. It was so much harder than you would think to find a pastel coloured dress, that flows nicely (gotta get those beach breezes people), which is also modest! πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Finally, after hours of searching, I found this dress from Morning Lavendar which was sooooo perfect!!! I was so stoked to see how well the colours from the morning light and the water brought our the mint colour of the dress. The bonus was that it held up really well in the little adventuring we did at the very end of our shoot (just wait and see – make sure you keep scrolling).

We had a ball, with Adam, exploring the beach and the lava rocks. We were laughing most of the time (mainly because we found someone who got our Aussie style of literal humour) which made the shoot instantly relaxed and fun.

Oh hello you… 😘

One of the other things that I loved about Love + Water’s photography style was that they get you into the water at the end of the shoot for some unique photos!!! Yep you get the chance to get wet!!! Hence having to find a dress that also wouldn’t go completely see-through with the water πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ. It was a little chilly getting into the water so early in the morning but, of course, definitely worth it. I mean… come on, could these photos get anymore amazing!

I’m pretty sure each time I look through these I have a new favourite!! Haha and we will need a whole gallery wall to show off these amazing photos (along with our engagement and wedding photos) in our house… (#futurehousedreams) but for now we just have a canvas of one of our favourites on the wall to remember our time in Hawaii.

Thanks so much Love + Water for capturing our first trip to Hawaii for our honeymoon!!! Can’t wait to come back and visit (SOON!) haha.
