My Recipe Box

I’ve gotten to the stage where I’m starting to collect things for one day when I move out (Seriously I have three massive plastic storage containers sitting in my room full just taking up space – waiting for that day). A little while ago I was going through all of Mums recipes, looking through all my favourites from when I was a kid and ones that have been in the family for a long time. It was at this point that I realised that I should probably start collecting and putting together these recipes somewhere, so I don’t need to raid Mum’s recipe collection each time I have a craving for mum’s Sausage Pasta Casserole (trust me its good!).

I’d been given a book to write recipes in for my 16th birthday but it never really worked for me. I tried to use it, the tabs and headings just didn’t suit what recipes I wanted to have…  where’s the section for Christmas season favourites? Come on guys! 🎄

So I started doing some research into recipe boxes and found this extremely cute one here by Rifle Paper Co. Originally I saw a box similar to it on Pinterest and then had the hard task of trying to find the original shop (I do a lot of shopping from Pinterest don’t I? haha). I really love the Herb Garden pattern and I chose it because I really think it will suit most kitchens in the future. Rifle Paper Co do have 3 other tins and then a gorgeous wooden recipe box as well (and I just noticed have other items with the same Herb Garden design – check out these shoes!!).

So I’ve started filling it up with recipes old and new. It has actually been harder than I thought because nowadays it is so easy to just google a recipe and cook from my phone or iPad and I always forget to save or print recipes that I love. So I have been making a conscious effort to try and keep on top of it

The thing I love about this box is that I can always customize my own dividers (and add in that little Christmas section) really easily. The same shop also supplies the recipe cards (these are the Charcoal Spoon cards which come with the box). As you can see there is plenty of room to collect recipes over many years to come.

If by any chance you want to make this recipe or see the rest of the recipe,  check out this post.

I also love the idea of collecting some favourite recipes from friends and family but then having a different style of card (like this one here) to distinguish from the others. What a great idea for a birthday or bridal shower!
