I’ve got something a little different to share with you all today… welcome to a little corner of my room. A couple of years ago I re-decorated and discovered a blank space above my desk that needed a little bit of colour and light added to it. After being inspired from Pinterest, I decided to put together a couple of decorative frames with quotes that I like and to encourage me everyday. On a whim I decided to take some photos…
Still living at home means that I have a lot of things cramped into a small space (so ignore the massive stack of art supplies and paper on the side 🤦🏼♀️) but I still wanted something to lighten up that wall space. Considering the walls are a very dark colour, the white frames were a must to tie it with the rest of the white furniture in my room (well at least besides my desk).
I thought I’d go through and share a little about why I chose to create some of these pieces.
My first frame to the collection was displaying the peacock feather we had collected from when we were on holidays at the Cataract Gorge in Tasmania. Considering we managed to trek it all the way back without breaking it, I decided it needed to have a special place to help me remember the trip!
I’d seen this quote a number of times in my search for inspiration and seeing as I have the craziest travel bug it seemed appropriate. It is a line from a poem called ‘All that is gold does not glitter’ by J.R.R Tolkien for the book Lord of the Rings. And although I am not a massive TLOR fan, 😱 I know right, I still love the quote.
Around the time I was putting together this wall, there was a song that was sung a lot at church called Persevere in Hope. It was kind of the theme for a season and this is one of the lines from that song. Even now whenever I see it I can’t help but sing that line, which is a great encouragement everyday.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” Proverbs 31:25. I love this scripture because it describes a Godly woman, so I want to have this thought reminding me everyday! I wish I could’ve made the entire verse fit, but just having this section reminds me of the rest of the verse.
On a side note, I think the scrabble letter B is pretty straightforward…. 💁🏼
Who doesn’t love a little #love. Although in my profession we use ‘#’ as short hand for fracture or broken. Lol so I could be reading it as fractured love.
I agree with this statement 100%. It also links well with the theme of my room… anything Paris!
I really enjoyed the process of making each piece of artwork, using different paints and techniques. The fairy lights were added later around Christmas time and actually trace around the entirety of my room. Honestly I loved the effect and couldn’t be bothered to take them down. I think it really adds the finishing touch.
