Last weekend (while the boy was busy studying), my friend, Hannah, reached out to organise a catch up… namely for a movie night! These type of evenings have been a part of my social calendar regularly for the last 4-5 years, and while they don’t happen quite as often now, they are still treasured time with my girls. I’ve even hosted two movie marathons 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️. One was all Jane Austen movies and none of those short versions, bring it peeps, you know you want that 6 hours BBC Pride and Prejudice!! That was a total of 13 hours watching time. And then a few years ago – a Disney marathon (a total of 13 movies all in order of release date). I know, I know epic right… ‘you’re welcome!’ 🎵
We love to plan a good girls movie night and there are some traditions that my girlfriends and I have established… mainly to do with food. Considering my last post there will be no shocks when it comes to my loooooove for sweet foods, namely chocolate. We have perfected our choices and narrowed down our favourites from the confectionery aisle. Although we do regularly add more favourites in. It’s chocolate right!? You can never have enough!! These are our essential movie snacks:
M&Ms – now I personally love the combo pack with crispy, peanut and originals, but we’ve tried (and loved) the toffee apple, coconut and even raspberry ones as well.
Dark Chocolate Malteasers – a staple item. It was originally the milk Malteasers but since these have been released there has been no turning back!! We’ve gone to the dark side people (like the sith haha)!!
Pods – the Mars pods normally make it onto the pile, but we always try any new flavours.
Chocolate block – now normally I always get the popping candy (Cadbury Marvellous Creations) but it was time to try something new considering there has been an influx of new chocolate blocks recently (is there like a chocolate convention coming up or something?
Vanilla Coke – the token drink item haha. Now a lot of the time there are also mixers involved, our fav being piña coladas (cue my friend playing the Piña Colada song on repeat 🙉) . But this time we just stuck to a good old fav.
This weekends movie night consisted of the first part of a Marvel marathon. Now I wish I could organise all of the marvel movies in one sitting… but that would go for days. Haha, so Hannah and I are starting small and at the beginning (which is the very good place to start). She hadn’t seen them before (gee aren’t I good friend, helping her all get educated haha). Over the Saturday and Sunday we managed to work out way through Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers. We will have to plan a second movie night to get through the next lot of movies!!!
Most of the time our movie nights end up being catered similar to a Gilmore Girls movie night (please tell me you know what I’m talking about!!). Do you have any favourite movie night snacks? What other movie night traditions do you have?
Thanks to Hannah for helping out with taking some of the photos for this post!
