I am a passionate animal lover but dogs, in all shapes and sizes, always take prized position in my heart. Seriously, if you are with me and I see a dog, I am that girl who crys out “Oh look at the puppy!! It’s just so cute!”, cue the boyfriends eye roll. We have always been a dog family growing up and that means I am completely comfortable with dogs. They will always get my attention and, guess what, for some reason I always get theirs (cue excited, screaming girl coming at you begging for greeting and hugs #dogsdreamlife).
So today I’d like to introduce a key part of my life to you all. For the past 13 years our family pooch has been Missy (aka Mischief) – the red Australian Terrier.
Although occasionally she does get called red rocket, bubba or bubba G, munchkin, Mississippi etc etc etc. Yeah I’m also that girl who has a million pet names for her pets. I remember a few years ago for some reason I always called her Pineapple and before than Sponge. Don’t ask me where it came from, it just happened. She might have some grey hairs showing but her personality shines very bright and unique.
In 2013 my sister, Rachel, bought a dog too. No surprises it was another red Australian Terrier – her name is Aliyah. And even though they are the same breed, they are very very different (although I do call Aliyah my little Ewok). It’s no surprise that I am the favourite Aunty to her. Rachel can’t even tell Aliyah that I am coming over in advance otherwise she has a very excited puppy waiting at the door until I finally show up (sometimes not until days later).
These photos are from a calendar that we put together a few years ago as a Christmas gift for family members. Knowing how hard it can be to photograph animals, I am really happy with how a heap of the photos turned out. Lots of bribery was required…
